HEAVEN'S ONLY DAUGHTER

Directed by Philip Harder and written by Simon Blake.  Starring Greg Dulli from The Afghan Whigs and with a soundtrack by Mike Watt from The Minutemen and Dennis Janney-Nye.  The film is set in rural Wisconsin in the early 1940’s and tells three love stories all viewed by the ghosts of three children who drowned in the Black River.

It was screened across Cities in the U.S and at The Telluride Festival in Colorado.

AWAYDAY

AWAYDAY was screened on Channel 4 as part of their TRIBES series. Written & Directed by Simon Blake and starring Andrew Tiernan.  Director of Photography, Mark Turner. Set in the early eighties, a football hooligan goes through his ritualistic preparation for another awayday.

Film Festivals

Awayday won BEST SCREENPLAY and BEST SHORT at Cinema Jove, Valencia Film Festival.  AWAYDAY was also screened at the Hamburg, Rotterdam  and Edinburgh Short Film Festival, London International Film Festival and was chosen by the British Council in a series called BEST OF BRITISH screening at more than 50 short film festivals. 

LOVE IN VAIN

Written and Directed by Simon Blake. Director of Photography, Mark Turner.  Starring George McAllister, Dave Fishley, Pearl Read and Alex Stanger. A playful homage to Truffaut’s “Jules et Jim”, a call to arms for growing old disgracefully and a love letter to cinema.

Written and directed by Simon Blake, starring Diveen Henry, Director of Photography and Editor Mark Turner, music by The Keyboard Choir.  A woman awakes to find that she is the only person alive in a deserted London and someone or something is out to get her.

LOVE JUGGLING

Written and Directed by Simon Blake, Director of Photography Mark Tuner. Three women in their thirties decide to test their love for their husbands with funny and tragic results.

Love Juggling screened at The London International Short Film Festival, the Edinburgh Short Film Festival and The Hamburg International Film Festival.

MAGPIE SINGS THE BLUES

Directed by Simon Blake, Director of Photography Mark Turner, written by Kay Bridgemann and starring Kay Bridgemann, Javone Prince & Nona Dumezweni. A psychological thriller about the nature of fame and mental illness.
